Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

Last updated: October 20, 2026. AI Car Mechanic (ai-car-mechanic.com) is operated by Terox Solutions LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. Questions: info@ai-car-mechanic.com.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data we process when you use AI Car Mechanic, why, and the choices you have. Terox Solutions LLC (“we”, “us”) is the controller of this data.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data: your email address, your password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), the name you enter at sign-up and, if you add it in your profile, a phone number.
  • Google sign-in: if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your email address, your name and a link to your profile picture with us. We use the email address and name to create your account; we do not use the picture. Google handles the sign-in itself under its own privacy policy.
  • Subscription data: your plan, subscription status, renewal date, credit balance and the customer and subscription IDs from our payment provider Stripe. You enter your card details, name and billing address on Stripe’s checkout page; Stripe collects and keeps them to complete the sale and calculate tax, and they never reach our servers.
  • AI chat content: the messages, vehicle details (for example make, model, mileage or VIN) and photos you submit to the AI mechanic. Each message is sent to our AI provider to generate the reply. Photos are never stored by us. The text of your 10 most recent conversations is kept in your browser’s local storage on your device, so you can reopen them from History; it is not sent to our servers for storage, and it is removed when you delete it, sign out or delete your account. If you are on the Basic or Pro plan and press “Save”, the text of that conversation is saved to your account, linked to the vehicle you chose, so you can reopen it later on any device.
  • Garage data (Basic and Pro plans): the vehicles you add (make, model, year, engine, optional nickname and VIN, mileage), your service reminders and the service history you record, including dates, mileage, costs and notes.
  • Location: only if you allow your browser to share it, on the mechanic map or when you ask the emergency page for local emergency numbers. It is used to search for repair shops near you or to find your country. On the mechanic map, your location is rounded to about 0.6 miles (1 km) and sent to our server, which asks OpenStreetMap services for repair shops in that area; a city, address or ZIP code you type into the map search is sent the same way. On the emergency page, your coordinates and IP address are sent directly to OpenStreetMap services. We do not store your location or map searches in our database or link them to your account. Search results for an area may be cached by our hosting provider for up to about a week, and recent results may be cached in your browser.
  • Messages to us: the name, email address and message you send through the contact, feedback or enterprise forms, or by email.
  • Usage data: through Google Analytics, pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and events such as sign-up, starting checkout, completing a purchase or completing a diagnosis. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this happens only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider processes your IP address and request details to deliver the website and protect it against abuse.

Please do not include sensitive personal information (for example health data) or other people’s personal data in your messages or photos.

2. How we use data and our legal bases

  • To create and run your account, provide the AI mechanic, track credits and manage your subscription: performance of our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To process payments, issue invoices and keep accounting and tax records: contract and legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
  • To answer your messages and quote requests: steps at your request and our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
  • To keep the service secure, apply rate limits and prevent fraud and abuse: our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To measure how the website is used with Google Analytics: your consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland (Art. 6(1)(a)); elsewhere our legitimate interest in improving the site, and you can opt out at any time.
  • To send service emails such as account confirmation, password reset, payment receipts and important changes to these terms: contract and legal obligations.

We do not use your chats or photos to train AI models, we do not sell your personal data or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not send marketing emails without your consent. AI answers are informational; we do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you by automated means.

3. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that limit how they may use it:

  • Supabase — database and user authentication.
  • Stripe — sells our paid plans as merchant of record and processes the payment, taxes, receipts, invoices and payment-related support (see “Subscriptions, credits and payments” below). For this, Stripe acts as an independent controller of your payment and billing data; see Stripe’s privacy policy. We receive only your subscription status and Stripe’s customer and subscription IDs.
  • OpenAI — generates AI mechanic answers from the messages and photos you submit. Under OpenAI’s API data policies, this data is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default and is kept only for a limited period for abuse monitoring.
  • Netlify — website hosting and delivery.
  • Google — Google Analytics usage statistics (see Cookies below); no advertising features are used. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google also handles your sign-in under its own privacy policy.
  • Hostinger — the mailbox that receives messages you send us.
  • OpenStreetMap services — map tiles and place search (Nominatim) from the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and shop data from public Overpass API servers (operated by FOSSGIS e.V. and other volunteer operators). Your browser loads the map tiles, so the tile servers receive your IP address and the map area you view. Mechanic map searches go through our server, so these services receive the rounded location or the place you typed, but not your IP address. The emergency page asks OpenStreetMap directly for your country, which sends your coordinates and IP address.

We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public, and to a buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganised, in which case this policy continues to protect your data.

4. International transfers

We are based in the United States, so your data is processed in the United States and in other countries where our providers operate. Where the law requires it, our providers protect transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland with recognised safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep data

  • Account and profile data: for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in your profile; the data is then deleted from our database.
  • Free-credit record: if you receive free credits, we keep a one-way hash of your email address (not the address itself) after you delete your account, solely to prevent the free credits from being claimed more than once.
  • Payment and invoice records: kept by Stripe and by us for as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally up to 7 years).
  • AI chat content: not stored on our servers unless you save it (Basic and Pro plans). Your 10 most recent chats stay in your browser until you delete them, sign out or delete your account. Saved chats and garage data are kept until you delete the chat, the vehicle or your account. Photos are never stored. Our AI provider may keep messages for a limited period as described above.
  • Messages you send us: as long as needed to handle your request and for up to 2 years afterwards.
  • Analytics data: no longer than 14 months.
  • Security and hosting logs: for the short period set by our hosting provider.

6. Cookies and local storage

  • Strictly necessary: your sign-in session, your cookie choice, your recent AI chats (History) and map settings or cached map results are kept in your browser’s local storage. The site cannot work properly without them, so they do not need consent.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*). In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are set only after you accept. Elsewhere they are on by default and you can turn them off.
  • No advertising cookies are used.

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer, or by clearing your browser’s site data.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have the right to know, access, correct and delete their data and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do not sell or share it), and will not be treated differently for using these rights.

To use your rights, email info@ai-car-mechanic.com from the address on your account, or delete your account in your profile. We may need to verify your identity. We reply within one month (45 days where U.S. state law applies). An authorised agent may make a request on your behalf with proof of authority.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office). We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

8. Security

All traffic to the site is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider. Database rules ensure that each user can access only their own profile, and billing and credit fields can be changed only by our server. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI DSS certified provider.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

9. Children

The service is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 (under 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We will post any update on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.

Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Terox Solutions LLC about your use of ai-car-mechanic.com and the AI Car Mechanic service (the “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Paid plans are sold to you by Stripe as merchant of record; see section 4.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 16 to create an account, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a subscription. The Service is for personal use.

Paid plans are offered to customers in the United States only. The site, its content, prices (in U.S. dollars) and cost estimates are designed for the U.S. market. We do not market or direct the paid Service to consumers in the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. By subscribing you confirm that you are located in the United States. Anyone may read the free guides from anywhere.

Business use, including by workshops and fleets, requires a separate written agreement (Enterprise).

You are responsible for your account: give accurate information, keep your password private, do not share your account, and tell us promptly at info@ai-car-mechanic.com if you suspect unauthorised use.

2. The Service

  • Free without an account: the common issues library, OBD-II code guides, tips, maintenance planner and emergency guide.
  • Free with an account: the mechanic map.
  • With a new free account: 10 AI credits to try the AI mechanic, one time, after you confirm your email.
  • With a paid subscription: continued use of the AI mechanic chat and photo analysis, which use credits.
  • With the Basic plan (2 vehicles) or the Pro plan (up to 100 vehicles): My Garage, where you can save vehicles, chats, service reminders and a service log. If your plan ends, you can still view and delete this data, but not add to it. If you move from Pro to Basic, you keep every vehicle but cannot add more than the Basic limit allows.

The mechanic map shows third-party listings from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License). We do not verify, review, endorse or recommend any repair shop and are not responsible for their services, prices or conduct. Check a shop’s details directly before relying on them.

We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a paid feature in a way that materially reduces what you paid for, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your current billing period.

3. AI disclaimer — read this before relying on an answer

The AI mechanic gives general information, not a professional diagnosis.

It works only from what you type and the photos you send. It cannot inspect, test or see your vehicle, and its answers can be incomplete or wrong. Cost figures are rough estimates, not quotes. Content on the site is drafted with AI assistance and is not reviewed line by line by a certified technician.

  • Have a qualified mechanic confirm any diagnosis before you pay for a repair, and always for anything safety-related: brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, fuel leaks, overheating, smoke, airbags or high-voltage hybrid/EV systems.
  • If the vehicle is unsafe, stop driving it. In an emergency, get to safety and call your local emergency number.
  • If you work on your vehicle yourself, you are responsible for doing it safely and legally, using proper tools and protective equipment. Never work on airbags or high-voltage systems.
  • Using the Service does not create a mechanic–customer or any other professional relationship.

4. Subscriptions, credits and payments

  • Who sells to you: paid plans are sold through Stripe’s Managed Payments service. Stripe (including its Link service) is the merchant of record and your seller for the purchase. Stripe takes your payment, calculates, collects and pays any sales tax, VAT or similar tax, issues your receipts and invoices, and handles payment and subscription support requests and payment disputes. Terox Solutions LLC provides and runs the AI Car Mechanic service you use with your subscription and is responsible for it under these terms. Stripe’s own checkout terms and privacy policy, shown on the payment page, apply to the payment itself. On your card statement the charge may appear as “LINK.COM*” followed by our name.
  • Plans and base prices are shown on the pricing page in U.S. dollars. At checkout Stripe may add applicable taxes and may show the price in your local currency; the total you pay is the amount shown on Stripe’s payment page before you confirm.
  • Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) and your payment method is charged the then-current price until you cancel. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price increase applies to you, and you can cancel before it does. Where the law requires it, we will remind you before a yearly plan renews.
  • Credits: Basic includes 200 and Pro 2,000 credits per monthly cycle (yearly plans receive the same monthly allowance). A text message costs 1 credit and a photo analysis 5 credits. Your balance resets to your plan’s allowance at the start of each monthly cycle; unused credits do not roll over, have no cash value and cannot be transferred. If the AI fails to answer, the credits are returned automatically. A new free account receives 10 credits once, after it confirms its email; these credits do not renew. Reasonable rate limits apply to protect the Service.
  • Changing plans: to upgrade, you buy the higher plan through Stripe’s checkout. Once that payment succeeds, the new plan and its credit allowance start immediately, and your previous plan ends immediately. The remaining time of the previous plan is not refunded, and you pay the full price of the new plan. To move to a cheaper plan, cancel your current plan and subscribe to the cheaper one after your paid period ends.
  • Failed payments: if a payment fails, Stripe may retry it, and AI features are paused until the payment succeeds.
  • Cancelling: you can cancel at any time in your profile. You can also cancel or update your subscription and payment method through Stripe’s order management page, using the email address you used at checkout. Your subscription will not renew, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
  • Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately and ends access at once. If you want to keep access until the end of your paid period, cancel first and delete your account later.

5. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable, and we do not refund partial billing periods when you cancel, except as described in this section or where the law requires otherwise. This does not affect your statutory rights.

  • Billing mistakes: if you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or charged an incorrect amount, contact us within 60 days and we will refund the incorrect amount.
  • Because Stripe is the seller, you can also ask Stripe’s support (the link is on your receipt) about a payment or refund. Stripe may decide a refund request under its own rules, and any refund it or we make returns the full amount you paid, including tax, to your original payment method.
  • If a law that applies to you gives you a mandatory right to cancel a purchase and get a refund, we will honour it. Email info@ai-car-mechanic.com with your account email and the date of purchase.
  • We make refunds to the original payment method within 14 days of approving your request.

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank, so we can resolve it quickly.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully, to harm anyone, or to obtain instructions for illegal activity such as defeating emissions controls or vehicle security;
  • try to break, probe or bypass our security, rate limits or credit system, or access other users’ data;
  • scrape the site or access the AI mechanic through bots or automated scripts;
  • resell, share or provide access to the Service to others without our written agreement;
  • upload content that is illegal, infringes someone else’s rights, or contains other people’s personal data without permission.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If we close your account without any breach on your part, we will refund the unused part of your current billing period.

7. Your content and our content

You keep ownership of the messages and photos you submit. You give us permission to process them, including sending them to our AI provider, only to provide the Service to you. You may use the answers you receive for your own purposes; similar answers may be given to other users.

The website, its text, design and brand belong to Terox Solutions LLC or its licensors. You may view and print pages for personal use but may not copy or republish them in bulk.

8. Warranties and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that answers will be accurate or complete, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, for lost profits or data, or for repair, towing or other costs and losses that result from relying on AI answers or on third-party repair shops instead of a professional inspection. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and nothing affects any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

If you use the Service for business purposes or in breach of these terms, you agree, to the extent permitted by law, to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from that use.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Sheridan County, Wyoming, except where a law that applies to you gives you a mandatory right to other protections or courts. Either of us may use a small claims court where available.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify account holders by email or with a notice on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the effective date; continuing to use the Service after it means you accept the new terms. Changes required by law, or that do not reduce your rights, may apply when published.

11. General

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. We may transfer this agreement to a successor of our business; you may not transfer it without our consent. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. We may send you notices by email to the address on your account.
